Yes Bruce, the format of the SDSF find command is -

FIND (string|*|X'string') (start-col) (end-col) (WORD|PREFIX|SUFFIX)

No mention of  picture strings at all.  I' m also gobsmacked  that SDSF
doesn't use the self same command format as ISPF edit/browse.

Really!   Here at Innovation we use the IOF product instead of SDSF.
IOF uses actual ISPF Browse and Edit on spool so all ISPF functions
work.  Sounds like a SDSF enhancement request.  I have the same
complaint on IPCS, their browse doesn't support a lot of ISPF options
