We've been running parallel sysplex for more than ten years. I cannot
recall a single instance where upgrading one machine in a complex required
so much as an IPL on other machines, let alone POR. Assuming that you have
two CFs in use, you should be able to shutdown the machine containing one
CF while the sysplex continues to run on the remaining CF. Every
definition should be completely dynamic. After the upgrade, the other
systems should be able to rejoin the sysplex.
I can't tell exactly from the post what the concern is, but the proper
sequence of steps should be nondisruptive to systems on the machine that
'stays'. If two upgrades are being performed, do them one at a time; the
comments above apply in each case in sequence.
What about Sender/Receiver to Peer migration ?
AFAIK there's restriction here: you cannot have CBR/CBS channels and CBP
within single CPC definition (*). It requires POR. I didn't analyze it
(just quick shot), but I think it could require all sysplex restart.
(*) The same for CFS/CFR and CFP or ICS/ICR and ICP. IC is actually not
an issue, since IC is internal
