It is true that bit ETDEAM was defined in z/OS 1.5 but unfortunately it appears that the function doesn't actually work until z/OS 1.8. Peter Relson z/OS Core Technology Design ======================================================= SA22-7614-02 "MVS Programming: Extended Addressability Guide" Page 4-9 (bottom), 4-10. "Starting with z/OS V1R3, there are other ways for a program to be in AMODE(64): . . You could be a target PC routine and have set up the entry table entry to indicate that your routine is to be given control in AMODE(64)." My interpretation is that z/OS V1R3 supports the ETDEAM bit in the IHAETD FORMAT=1 structure. I do not think it is telling me that I have to muck with the real ETE. Peter is saying that the above documentation is inaccurate and the ETDEAM bit is not supported until V1R8? eek! PCAUTH address space will reject the ETCRE with abend or it will just not set the AMODE(64) bit in the real ETE? Jeffrey D.
