Did you delete the catalog alias entry by chance and the dataset is still cataloged in the user cat? You should be able to run IDCAMS command PRINT INDD(INFILE) and point the INFILE DD at the vvds on the volume that contains the dataset. The catalog that the dataset is cataloged in is in the NVR.
