Well, I've just converted our Websphere HFS files to zFS and was about to
start on the rest of the HFS files when I read this. Where did you find out
that conversion for performance was unneccesary, is it documented anywhere
or did you just experience it yourself. When you say "copy them logically",
what program did you use to do that. Presumably you will have to keep on
periodically reorging some of the more volatile HFS files. Wouldn't zFS be
better in those cases.

As far as I know, yes, this is normal. We had delays up to 10 minutes for
the big Domino databases at startup during IPL. IIRC, we also had an ETR
open with IBM and were told that this is broken as designed. In addition we
found out that our migration to zFS (from HFS) that appeared to be a big
performance boost was unnecessary. Instead, we should have 'just'
reorganized the HFS files (as in copy them logically, not physically), that
would have yielded the same performance boost. We have migrated back to HFS,
and performance did not get worse.
