FDRPAS issues a warning message if you swap from a duplexed volume to a
non-duplexed volume, but it lets the swap continue. It currently only
tests for PPRC but we plan to add a test for XRC.
But it must be the responsibility of the customer to decide what to do
about the situation.
To provide the maximum protection, the target disk should be duplexed,
but that means that you must have double the capacity at the remote
site, at least for a while.
Another option is to do the swap, then terminate duplexing on the source
disk (which is no longer in use) and use the same remote target disk to
duplex the new device, but this means there is a period where there is
no protection. Also as someone said, if this must be done for many
volumes, it can be onerous.
