I'm not 100% sure; I thought they were the type of options you could just turn 
on, and forget it.

There are other options like that.
ALL31, for example.
IBM recommended that you have this turned on all the time.
We do, and the few programmes loaded in 24-bit still work.
LE just 'fixes' it if they're called.

Is this not the same for these others?
