John, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I could do as you suggest. I should say that we always do system upgrade process too. Probably my biggest hangup is all the catalog manipulation going on in Serverpac when I don't think it is necessary(my opinion). Other than a handful of datasets(SMPE csi's, HFS/ZFS, and a couple others) nothing *has* to be cataloged even temporarily to perform the serverpac dialogs. For me it's just another level of safety/security when I can see what volser is the target of restores directly in the batch jobs before I run them.
