Does he listen? Does he want to learn? Maybe it's an opportunity
rather than a problem.

I don't see that. As freud said, sometimes a question is only a
question. Maybe he's asking because he wants to learn, not because he
doesn't trust you. Ask him whether he would like a serious of
briefings on the hardware, software and local policies, then try to do
some good presentations if he says yes.

Only you and your boss can answer that.

Assume that he's an ally rather than an adversary. Ask him what he
needs from you, and let him know what you need from him.
