You make a good point quoted below, however I know in the past IBM has givin companies IFLs for free for a period of time. A company in Milwaukee got several IFL engines (7 if I remember) for a period of around a year or so maybe 2 years ago. They got everything working, but politics prevented implementing Linux in production. I think they converted over 100 servers.
