<snip>
Sorry for being dense, but since we now have virtual dasd (RAID) and we
now
have ICF, has anyone done any current research to see if a re-evaluation
of
this process needs to be done?

I am just thinking that with the current dasd types, it maybe that
things
have changed a bit.

Had a case (on a RAID device) where we lost volume containing the
primary XCF couple ds. Due to microcode bugs, the error recovery took
longer than the XCF "keep alive" interval. The result was a HARD wait
and SYSPLEX IPL. Ouch!

That being said, I have used the 2 volume flip-flop of primary/secondary
between XCF and CFRM. We do not currently use the system logger.

HTH,
