I agree with this, with the usual caveats. Of course, anything that uses
JNI is not compatable! Or that uses something that is not on all
platforms (i.e. the Mac interface or the JCICS stuff).

Example: I wrote, for my own amusement, a small Java application which
uses Derby (free 100% Java database system). I wrote it on Linux/Intel
using Netbeans. It runs on Linux/Intel (32 bit), Linux/AMD (64 bit),
Windows (32 bit), Mac OSX (64 bit, I think), and z/OS 1.8 UNIX (64 and
31 bit).
