There will probably be several hundred (thousand) goodies that will
never make it out the front door of IBM. It would be impossible to
guess as I would suspect only a few would know the actual number , To
make any decision based on if and maybe would surely be (IMO) just
plain crazy. You can get a rough idea what is going on at IBM by just
listening at SHARE (or any of the other conferences or reading IBM
research pubs). If you hear of something that "might" affect your
deliverable then you can make a rough guess and figure out how to
deliver it in your product. Of course you won't know for sure until
IBM delivers a *REAL* product. Having said that unless IBM would
change their number of bits in a byte (not in our lifetime) or some
other fundamental architectural change your product is reasonably
safe. Not totally but hey there is always a chance a comet will hit
the earth but the chance is there .
