While its function was (and still is, AFIAK) undocumented, the existence of 
DIAGNOSE is not a secret.  If you go to bitsavers, you can find A22-6821-0, 
the first edition of ther Systen 360 Principles of Operation.  Diagnose is on 
page 74.
