I can recall a situation that sysprog (bad one) has cloned several SMP/E environments and nobody knew (including him!) which one is the correct one. I met it at leas three times.

Here is a situation where I can agree with Ed G. This person should have been transfered to a position more commensurate with his abilities and attitudes. If that means "The Street", then so be it. Clarity and comon sense should be major considerations.

In case of components installed from 'setup.exe' on PC *or* on mainframe side (I described such example: TSA), SMP/E delivery is simply pointless.

That's an excuse, not a reason. A SMP/E installation can be as simple or as complicated as a vendor wishes it. The only thing lacking is a better understanding of SMP/E processes and controls.
