And thus was born the VERIFY(oldvolser) parameter? We had an "open system" DASD person who claimed to have z/OS knowledge and wanted more responsibility. This sounded like a good thing. But when asked about using this parameter on an INIT, he basically said he wouldn't be bothered with it.
