I don't see any problem with this provided they assign an appropriate
management class.
I don't think we want DFHSM trying to do data set level backup on these
but I would be interested to know what others are doing.
We do it, it is very convenient when you plan to clone your data using
"fast copy" (FlashCopy, Snapshot, PPRC) method. Your data will be copied
with the BCS.
I'm not aware of any negative impact of having BCS on SMS-managed volume.
