Here is what I found searching on "raw" in the CS IP Configuration Guide, "Configuring the z/OS UNIX Telnet server": <quote> The z/OS UNIX Telnet server runs in both line mode and raw mode, but does not support TN3270 or TN3270E, as the TN3270E Telnet server does. </quote> However, you were talking about the TELNET command under TSO which I guess doesn't allow the generation or interpretation of the characters necessary to drive many clever UNIX functions in the way that the usual, say PC-based, TELNET clients do.
