Such an alternate train would have required an alternate UCS image. I never saw a shop that modified a TN or T11 UCS instead of assigning a new name.

30+ years ago, we at AMA (The "Doctors' Union") modified a T11 train to contain a copyright symbol. We kept the same UCS designation and just ZAP'ped the value into the UCS buffer at the appropriate place. The effect on print speed was negligible.
