I think you be better served, perhaps, writing yourself a program to store and access data in a dataspace before you start playing with SRBs - the MVS Extended Addressability manual is a good place to start. Once you are familiar with that style of cross-memory programming (it will get you used to STOKENs, ALETs, access regs etc etc) - then perhaps you will be more comfortable with what is required for SRB routines.
