Esmie, Since your are attempting to allocate a multi-volume SAS dataset, please check the SAS - documentation. In there, you'll find JCL samples and a description on how to do it.

There are 3 mod-3 volumes empty. I checked the storage group and all is well. If I allocate the dsn of 3,000 cyls it works. Do I need to define the dsn as XTDENDED? I tried several things including using a UNIT=(,2), parm but nothing works. Below is the error message: IEF344I TRSFILE SAS STEP001 CATLARG - ALLOCATION FAILED DUE TO DATA FACILITY SYS IGD17271I ALLOCATION HAS BEEN ALLOWED TO PROCEED FOR DATA IGBDJ.TRANS.XOGL4025.DOM ALTHOUGH VOLUME COUNT REQUIREMENTS COULD NOT BE MET IGD17051I ALLOCATION FAILED FOR DATA SET IGBDJ.TRANS.XOGL4025.DOM , PRIMARY SPACE EXCEEDS 65535 TRKS IEF272I TRSFILE SAS STEP001 - STEP WAS NOT EXECUTED.
