I do not know about VSE but in the pre library/virtual tape days we had a task that was shipped as part of MICS or MXG that cut SMF records containing the time from the mount message to the DOM. Worked fine for single drive MVS mounts. Was not good for JES3 setup mounts (this may have been fixed) or multi-drive mounts. The mount for the 2nd drive is issued at open, the DOM at the time the switch is made to the 2nd drive.
