If you have a tape management system, it probably posts messages in the log. For CA-1, the mount request is echoed in a TMS00x message and volume recognition is logged in a IECTMS9 message.

I don't have SAS or anything similar on these machines, but could 'port' SMF data to a system that does have SAS / MICS, but I suspect that if I can produce stats, the customer is going to want them every month or something. I'm guessing that the answer is no, but is it posssible to get stats from SMF re tape mount times? I know SMF 94 is for tape libraries, but I don't think there is anything for manual drives? Is there any other way of getting this info, other than trawling through the job output? Can anything be done on VSE? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
