Do I need to use a more powerful signon than SYSPROG? I don't see any power
type ICONs on the HMC or when I go into Single Object Operations.

When you say power off/on are you talking about removing/restoring the mains supply to the box?
then I think you will probably need to use SERVICE signon from the SE. I don't think you can fully
power-on from any other id, as it requires the machine to be in "service" mode, and that can only be
done from SERVICE.. see z9BC install manual.
