I must admit it was a few years back when I last had to do this in anger
(in a darkened machine room with a mag light!).. It was a z800 and you
had to perform the "Power On" function from SERVICE before you could do
a POR or Activate - I remember having a complete memory failure for the
SERVICE password.
1. There is no need to perform any action before Activate. Of course the
machine has to be powered on and notebooks started up - however this is
only matter of red switch on the cabinet (and optionally circuit
breakers). The activate does not require SERVICE userid.
2. Default password for SERVICE is SERVMODE. Keep it in secret ;-)
3. There more powerful userid PEMODE, unfortunately its password is not
documented - and probably dependent on dat/time an serial no.
