Ben, No they haven't. We have taken 2 complete power outages of our machine room for power updating since our z9BC hit the floor. In both cases, we simply deactivated the CEC, then to make sure nothing would get damaged while the electricians were messing around, we hit the breakers on the wall (for all the equipment, not just the "Z". Once they were done, flip the wall breakers back on, and perform an activate of the CEC and everything was happy.

Have things changed since the z890? When we had a power failure (and our UPS failed), we powered on our z890 by logging onto the SE as SYSPROG, brought up the CPC Work Area and did an "Activate" to the CPC Icon. This fully powered on the machine. Greg Shirey Ben E. I don't think you can fully power-on from any other id, as it requires the machine to be in "service" mode, and that can only be done from SERVICE.. see z9BC install manual. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
