Well, during my on-site PS course I had no reason to touch any local equipment like HMC or SE. All excercise well done using remote access. It was 30m apart from server room, but it could be 300km as well. Oh, we used several physical CPCs, a lot of LPARs, CFs, CPs. Very rich configuration. During my job I touch HMC or physical consoles mostly during its physical setup.
