Ah, I see what you mean.

Some of the routines could indeed be done now in COBOL.  One routine gets the 
address of a working-storage area.  There's also a date conversion routine that 
most likely could use LE services, if not be done in COBOL itself.

Nonetheless, there are hundreds of programs that call these routines, and I 
have no intention of changing them!  :-)
