Agreed. I always wanted to see one doing that stunt [1], just to see what z/OS 
will do [MIH and abends for example], or more specifically, what will that 
drive's controller and its cache will do with those orphaned blocks.

[1] - One of our operator pushed by accident a trolley full of 3480 cartridges 
over some ESCON optic cables. It was while we were installing ESCON and getting 
those copper wires out. Some of thes cables were 'live' and others were waiting 
to be connected. Luckily only those cables waiting to be connected, were 
damaged, while the 'live' ones were very dangerously lied nearby!!!!!! 

We had to fly in new cables while the op was 'enjoying' the 'Red Carpet' before 
the top brass... Ouch-ouch-ouch...
