In the serverpac, if it is not delivered as a PDSe then you should leave it alone. The distribution datasets are not really optional. You can change the size, but changing the type is a really bad idea unless you know what you are doing and obviously that is not the case here.
If you change one and have a problem, I don't think IBM will be able to help because the chances of them knowing that you altered the type is really slim.
