I might add to the existing comments that the internal SQL CoProcessor and CICS
Translator have been available since 2001...but why rush?

Some of the new COBOL 6 language features are not supported by the external
translator, COBOL's TRUE/FALSE for example will grind the external translator
to a halt. More COBOL changes are coming that will not be supported.

Watch our for bad coding practices because the COBOL 6 compiler will enforce
rules. Zero subscripts are treated as a value 1 in COBOL 4, but fail in COBOL
6. Of course these have always been the "rules", its just that the IBM
compilers did not enforce them.

Cheers,

Jon Butler
