'Splain' is presumably subliterate folksy for 'Explain', but there
does not seem to me to be anything to much to explain.

I have not been following this particular thread much because I get tired
of certain arguments.

Meanwhile, if I understand this correctly, this ['splain'] is actually
from the "I Love Lucy" TV series from decades ago.

It comes from Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz) finding out something that Lucy
has done or been involved in (typical scenario in the show). So as he
comes home and enters the apartment/house (hey, I watched the original
runs and haven't looked at the re-runs because I just never did like
Lucille Ball, even as a kid), he would call out "Lucy!! You've got some
splainin' to do" ("Cuban" accent).

Steve Thompson
