R S is right. Constantly accumulating detritus of this sort 1) makes
the mainframe look bad, 2) provokes repeated discussions of this sort,
3) impairs performance marginally on a case-by-case basis but
cumulatively, and 4) is ugly.
And 5. IMHO very important: some day you will HAVE TO DO IT. I can be
IMBED in ICF BCS, it can be TN3270 address space, it can be VSAM
password, or :variable without semicolon in SQL statement. In every case
it is very big pain when you HAVE to do it NOW and usually it is
surprise - no plans, no preparation, no knowledge, no test, no resources
to test...
That's why I sustain that some Sunday is worth to do it.
BTW: John have Sundays. My shop is open 24x7x365 (*), I have to use
other service time slots or wait. And it's always Sat/Sun night.
(*) Everyone knows the meaning of the above, actually it's not
multiplication.
