IBM's [current] documentation says otherwise, and my two z/TPF clients are still using z/OS.
I will pursue this and post what I find out. That said, dependence upon, say, LINUX instead of z/OS for crucial housekeeping functions is not a substantive advance. In my jaundiced view it makes matters worse. Those who prefer UNIX to z/OS MVS almost always turn out to have a less than adequate grasp of the facilities that z/OS makes available.
