OK, so that's where you'd like to draw the "no additional charge"/"separately chargeable" line. I happen to be personally sympathetic to your viewpoint. Please also make your friendly IBM representative aware of your views. "Be careful what you wish for," though. As I pointed out there's a financial impact if that charge line moves. That is, every zEnterprise machine would increase in price (or decrease less in price). I have no idea how big the impact would be. Right now there is the option -- typically on non-production machines -- to not pay anything for STP in any form. You can choose whether you want to pay for the feature or not. That's financially more flexible, if nothing else. There's also the argument that if something is included at no additional charge then it could be financially tougher for someone else to come along to "build a better mousetrap." Yes, I'm personally sympathetic to moving that line in the way you suggest, but I'm trying to present all arguments. As always here, I'm expressing my own views and not necessarily those of my employer, my wife, or my barber. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy Sipples GMU VCT Architect Executive (Based in Singapore) E-Mail: [email protected] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
