Why? Where? The use of that book name indicates perhaps that you are
looking at an old book. In the z/OS 1.13 books there are no references to
list_addr with respect to the DE parameter of LINK or LOAD (and similarly
none for ATTACH or XCTL in their respective books).

The note is question was already quoted by Ray Pearce in an earlier post, and
is here:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/IEA2A9C1/68.1.8
"Note: When you use the DE parameter with the LOAD macro, DE specifies the address
of a list that was created by a BLDL macro."
The manual is for z/OS 1.13, as it says on this page:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/IEA2A9C1/CCONTENTS
"Title: z/OS V1R13.0 MVS Assembler Services Reference IAR-XCT"
Bill
And the same note appears in
z/OS
MVS Programming: Authorized
Assembler Services Reference, Volume 3
(LLA-SDU)
Document Number SA22-7611-13
(also for z/OS V1R13) in the section "Parameters" under the description of the
LOAD macro.
