We have z/OS 2.1 (and CICS 5.1) running in 2 sandbox lpars since December. We have followed the same process for every release. We run in the sandbox lpars for an extended time period and then start rolling it out to our other lpars starting in March and finishing in early summer. Because of the number of changes in the release we are going to delay for a month and start our rollout this year in April. I compared the number of problems we have created with the sandbox testing for z/OS 2.1 and 1.13 and they are about the same number (about 10). Here are some that are related to z/os. (1) JES2 abend fix by ptf (2) ISPF ZSTART option fixed by apar from CA for PDSMAN and apar from IBM (3) ISPF Scroll amount greater than 9999 fixed by changing site wide defaults version level (4) Unix issues with OMVS segments fixed by security. This seems to me to be a problem that hit more tasks than I would have guessed.
