The command:
<java_home>/bin/java -version

will tell you what version and maintenance level.  IMO, it is not very
useful to install Java on z/OS via SMP/E because of the way that it is
maintained.   The downside is the extra space required for SMP/E.  Does
anyone see a benefit?
