If you can mimic in C / C++ what the JZOS DFSORT class does in java then 
that'd be good. I have personal experience of using it and writing up in a 
Redbook a while ago. It was certainly consumable.

An example in another language  is always helpful. And I know & trust the
peoples who first designed and implemented JZOS.
