Does it need to be done? When we IPL, we just bring everything down as noted and then do the load. The LPAR gets removed and reconnected to the plex and all seems to work well.
We've never done the V XCF command. Issueing V XCF, OFFLINE results in message IXC371D anyway. Much easier to just issue the command on another system of that sysplex and replying at IXC371D to vary the system out of the sysplex. Again, I personally can not come up with a reason why this is done normally.
