I know we're getting a little far afield from the original question, but if you
have a red/green deficiency, as I do, red on white is nearly indistinguishable
from black on white. I often find myself raising my hand in presentations
asking which bullets are highlighted as I can' t tell. I am curious as to how
highlighting works for a blind user.

I do recall back in the late 70's we had a blind programmer who had what I
presumed to be a braille device attached to his 3270.

And I tried saturated red (ff,00,00) warning text on a white background.
I decided that was grotesque and dropped back to about (c0,00,00).
