An availability is still important, but not because of HW failure. It is
not uncommon to have all the volumes within single DASD box, obviously
configured in some RAID.
So, many page datasets are on single DASD box regardless of emulated
volumes. And it's perfectly OK.
THe problem with multiple page datasets, especially belonging to
different systems is the software. ENQ, RESERVE, accidental volume
content damage - those risks exist on MVS volume regardless of
theunderlying HW.
