Now, I am more confused. You say; " These LPARs are not in a Parallel Sysplex."
And then go on to say: "The concern is/was that if the new LPAR came up first… say on POR, that something in the CF could be built differently and cause problems." If you are not in parallel sysplex in your shop, then you are not using CF. _________________________________________________________________ Dave Jousma Assistant Vice President, Mainframe Engineering [email protected] 1830 East Paris, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 MD RSCB2H p 616.653.8429 f 616.653.2717 -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Peter Ten Eyck Sent: Friday, December 05, 2014 10:12 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: LPAR IPL order within a Sysplex Yes… my understanding from the documentation is that the CF structures once built will remain intact for the duration of CF LPAR run. Not sure about the “disposition of delete” comment… I would have look into that. These LPARs are not in a Parallel Sysplex. We have an existing Sysplex with two larger LPARs and are adding a new smaller LPAR. The concern is/was that if the new LPAR came up first… say on POR, that something in the CF could be built differently and cause problems. As a precaution an IPL order procedure was put in place. We are using the same set of CDS datasets for all LPARs and have reviewed the GRSRNL member, but thought it was a good idea to insure the Sysplex gets built via the same LPAR as it has in the past. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN This e-mail transmission contains information that is confidential and may be privileged.
