It would also be nice if the TERSE told you that you had attempted to TERSE an SMF file that had been created by IFASMFDP with its (STUPID!) default LRECL=32767, which doesn't bother TERSE, but then causes UNTERSE to fail because the record length is too long, so you have to go back and re-dump with the correct LRECL=32760 and then TERSE/UNTERSE will work.
