Of course, I would prefer my Linux on a z, under z/VM. Rather than on Intel using VMware (or even, as I actually do, under qemu-kvm). I truly don't know the price comparison of a "fully loaded" z13 vs. an Intel (likely cluster) which could do the same work with similar responsiveness and reliability. But I prefer the z RAS to anything Intel has. To the best of my knowledge, Intel simply _CANNOT_ dynamically swap out a failing CP for a "spare" CP with _no_ OS involvement (it is purely a hardware recovery). We've had that happen, on a z9BC. The Windows people outright called me a liar because "that is IMPOSSIBLE!!!" according to them. Same when an OSA failed. The backup OSA did an "arp recovery" and all sessions continued with no user outage. Again, screams of "you're lying!" from the Windows camp here. Oh, and the OSA was "hot" fixed and restarted. All without any outage to anyone or any session. Yet another lie (according to you-know-who). Luckily, I had logs showing it. Not that it made any difference in the minds of the managers here. > > ITschak > > נשלח מה-iPad שלי > > ב-11 בספט׳ 2015, בשעה 09:58, R.S. <[email protected]> > כתב/ה: > > > The term is not dead.
