DON'T DO IT
Under any circumstance don't order CBPDO instead of ServerPac.
CBPDO is much more labour intensive and complicated.
I will disagree. SERVPAC are a real PITA. I had some run ins with level
2 and were gotten around with my interpretations and knowledge rather
than follow their instructions.
Plus I found SEVPAC needed to be baby sitted (sp?) after the instaall.
CBPDO in my opinion is the ONLY way to go.

I will certainly agree that early ServerPacs had quality problems. But
when was the last time you actually installed one, Ed? Today's
ServerPac is a lot different in many ways (including quality!) from the
original offering in OS/390 days.
In today's world it's hard for me to imagine that very many people on
Earth could install z/OS using CBPDO more quickly than with ServerPac.
As others have said, the week saved by ordering the CBPDO would be
overcome (and more) by the additional time spent for the vast majority
of people. Moreover, the opportunities for error when installing via
CBPDO are far more numerous than those for installing with ServerPac.
