In a nutshell, we can offload about 90% of our normal TCB workload to a z/IIP engine, your mileage may vary depending on a number of things, but we can do an awful lot. This has been a multi-year project by a number of very talented people.

As I understand other postings (possibly incorrectly) the work runs under an enclave SRB. Java and XML parsing to my mind are application code. I can't speak as to what type of code DF/Sort and Syncsort are running on Ziip and Zaap.
