I didn't mean to give that impression.

True.

Not so. The new WSF code could have two parts, like an HREF. An HTML HREF
looks something like:

<a href="http://www.some.really.long.url/with/a/directory/index.html>display
this</a>

The WSF first part would have the URL in the "href=" not be displayed on
the 3720 screen. The second part ("display this") is what would be rendered
on the screen.

It's just a stupid idea of mine. Nobody is going to care one scintilla
about making 3270 displays more user friendly in today's environment. IBM
is pushing workstation development, like RD/z (or whatever), instead of TSO
ISPF. ISPF and 3270 is for ancient dinos like us.

If I had my choice of environments, I would be totally based on a desktop
Linux ( I _hate_ Windows!) which keeps its data in z/OS UNIX files, in
__ASCII__ (we agree on hating EBCDIC) as is accessible via something akin
to, but better than, NFS (CIFS?). The tools on z/OS would need to "somehow"
be able to process the ASCII encode files, perhaps via "CCSID" tagging of
the UNIX files.
