ERLY code is the code loaded at IPL time for DB2. Not sure why they left the a out, but it is because it is loaded Early it is called ERLY.
In the past, since it is in LINKLST, you had to IPL. Now DB2 allows you to refresh ERLY code without an IPL. Contains DB2 modules that are referred to as early (ERLY) code, which must reside in an APF-authorized library. You must place early code modules in the link list because they are loaded at subsystem initialization during IPL. In the link list, you can have only one level of the early code. That early code can be shared by multiple subsystems and releases of DB2. Therefore, you must choose the level of early code that is appropriate for all subsystems that use the link list.
