What was in syslog in and around the HASP CKPT Lock message occurred? Do you have an automation tool that could monitor for it and issue commands?
DS Q,,, D GRS,DEV=... And so forth? It sounds like a process is locking the volume that the ckpt is on rather than the ckpt dataset. Is it possible to place CKPT1 into a CF and leave CKPT2 on DASD? Might reduce your issues.
